Business Writing

What is the goal of your Business Writing class?
This class will help you learn about and practice writing for a variety of business tasks, including emails, letters, and reports. You will learn effective ways to organize business writing and express ideas to fit current communication styles. You will work on improving your ability to write clearly, persuasively, and informatively.

What will you do in class?
You will learn and practice using appropriate vocabulary and phrases to state clear messages in written communication. You will write various letter types commonly used in business.

What will you be graded on?
In your Pronunciation/Vocabulary class, your grade will be based on these things:
  • Assignments                                35% of your grade
  • Writing assessments                 65% of your grade

What do the letter grades mean?
Here is an explanation of our grading scale. It is used in all of UCI Continuing Education's English programs.
You must earn an average of 70% or higher to pass the class.

Passing Grades

99-100% = A+
93-98% = A
90-92% = A-
88-89% = B+
83-87% = B
80-82% = B-
78-79% = C+
73-77% = C
70-72% = C-

Non-Passing Grades

68-69% = D+
63-68% = D
60-62% = D-
0-59% = F
